Blog this!

A short episode berating the blog- and pod-ospheres tonight, with two upcoming Atlanta shows. Why so short? Why are you so fuckin' demanding? Try (1) you already got the cool jailcast three days ago, and (2) four weeks of making up for no co-host has drained my creative juices. (I said "juices.")

Jet By Day, out of Athens, GA, playing Saturday at the Drunken Unicorn. We heard "O' Salvation".

The Sundogs, right here in Atlanta, playing TONIGHT at Smith's Olde Bar (and plenty of other nights). We heard Oasis and Wastin' Time. Good stuff.

Thanks to Artie for the good joke. Anyone interested in a podcasting gig, send resume and a minimum 1 megapixel picture of your boobs to s*at*wtfbarbecue.com.

Songs from the bighouse

I'm back from Savannah, no thanks to the fine Savannah police department. Special weekend podcast to tell you all about my fun times in the back of the St. Paddywagon. Tonight's show can be summed up in four words: LICK MY BALLS SAVANNAH.

Not so much non-musical linkitude tonight. Playlist:
The Clash - Police and Thieves (iTunes) (a repeat already??)
The Pogues - Dirty Old Town (iTunes) (and boy does he sound drunk)
Was (Not Was) - Dad I'm in Jail (iTunes) (NOT worth the whole album)
Public Enemy - Can't Truss It (iTunes) (I am SO urban)
Rage Against the Machine - Killing in the Name (iTunes)
Soggy Bottom Boys - In the Jailhouse Now (iTunes)

Surely there'll be a court-cast coming in a month or so. Happy Monday, bitches!

Slainte agus slan agat!

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, a short, pre-emptive podcast as I'm off to Savannah for the festivities. And in honor of a short podcast, it's in stereo this time!

Starts off with a rousing jig and reel from Folan & Davey, Gillespie's and the Donegal Reel. Some background music from Brollywacker, a fantastic duo whose internet presence seems to have gone quite dormant. Be sure to look for them at your local ren-fest. Misti Bernard, the whistle player/guitarist, is almost worth quitting your job and following around the country; at least it seemed that way over a few pints of Guinness. The Clancy Brothers sing Beer, Beer, Beer and then Clandestine, another ren-fest band out of Houston whose internet presence is absolutely dead, gives us The Slip Jigs from Hell. One more Clancy tune (Water is Alright in Tay) and it's bedtime for Bonzo.

And for those of you interested in helping out the McNultys,
The family lost $4,400 to robbers who accosted them at Northwest 36th Avenue and 16th Street, police said. The family had been on its way to the Florida Keys where their 13-year-old daughter, who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair, was to receive treatment at the Island Dolphin Center in Key Largo. The not-for-profit organization provides dolphin therapy to children with critical illnesses, disabilities and special needs from all over the world. Those who wish to help can send donations, in care of the McNulty family, to the Island Dolphin Care Center at 31 Corrine Place, Key Largo, FL 33037; or call 305-451-5884.

Me, myself, and I

Tonight's theme: abandonment.

Not really, but we aren't too keen on women, and by "we" I mean "I," because tonight's show is just me, me me me me me. No co-host, no foul-mouthed bar-trolls, just Captain Darko (that's me, that's what you call me now) and the music. Tonight's topics:
Nineteen - it's not just an age, it's a fetish, featuring music from Death Cab for Cutie (Amazon / iTunes), David Allan Coe, Paul Hardcastle's 19, and Muddy Waters (Amazon / iTunes).

Atlanta music features (OMG!!!!) tonight, with shows coming up this week: 13 Stories, playing at 10 High next Friday (and, as it turns out, I was totally talking shit out of nowhere about which hot blondes play what; it's the guitarist and the singer, lest you think I'm drooling over that homely bass dude); and King Johnson, playing tonight at Northside and returning in April.

And that's about it. More shows in The Loaf.

Please stand by

Ugh. Good morning.

Last night's episode will be online soon. But not now. I've got to shake this assy hangover in time to give a very important (unrehearsed) presentation to very important people to beg for thousands of dollars.

THEN I can put this shit online.

Later.
