Public Privacy

Inspired by my recent brush with a reporter, who may or may not want to cover the wtfBBQ podcast in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, tonight's show is about privacy and anonymity -- about which I'm kind of freaking out right now. Podcasters and bloggers are "out there" on the net, but can we expect (or do we even deserve) a little privacy at the same time? Mike Tyson might want to go find some peace and quiet in sub-Saharan Africa while beating some Jesus into the natives, but how much anonymity can a blogger expect? While pondering such things, we hear from

joy wants eternity - excellent podsafe ambient tracks that I knew I would forget to mention at the end fo the show.

Of Montreal with their tracks Hello From Inside a Shell up front and Penelope at the back. They were Amber's pick for tonight, a supergroovy Athens band that won't be back in Georgia for quite some time. And I am sad. But that's okay, because

The Five Foot Flame, JenRae's local pick who brought us our inter-segment bumpers tonight, will be playing at Lenny's on June 24.

My other blogger guests were Mae of Politics 101, Gymno of, well, Gymno, and Daniel Moore of the Atlanta MetBlog. Oh yeah, and the un-linked Big Red Chick.

Of Montreal used to be represented by Kindercore Records. Damn shame what happened there. Thanks to Dan Geller for the nod, and we'll hear from him again later.

Ragan Fox, poet and podcaster smart-mouthed genius, brought us the abortion meme.

Oh yeah, and Mike Tyson beat African converts to Jina na Bwana.

Spotted this ad on the ATL MetBlog. Thought you'd find it appropriate.

Thanks Col! But you're gonna make JenRae, Dan, Mae, and the Big Red Chick feel bad. :-P

I don't feel bad. The only inspiring thing I said on there was, "Can I have the partial birth?"

Hi
I'm not sure what you mean by me making a mistake: do you mean going public with my name? I made the decision to do that when I started the blog and the show in '03, but of course I respect what anyone else wants to do. I seriously doubt any reporter is going to want to ask me any questions, I am pretty low on the totem pole after all; hardly big enough to warrant any real attention. I guess if that changes I will deal with it then.

BTW I like the look of this site, especially love the podcast link on the side...very cool.
